Wreck Speciality Diver Course

The UK is surrounded by hundreds of wrecks! Whether sunk on purpose as an
artificial reef or the result of mishap or wars, wrecks open fascinating windows to the
past.
Most divers find wrecked ships, aeroplanes and even cars irresistible because they’re intriguing to explore, exciting avenues of discovery, and usually teeming with aquatic life. The PADI Wreck Diver course teaches you the ins and outs of rewarding, responsible wreck diving.
The Fun Part
The fun part of the PADI Wreck Diver course is visiting wrecks, unlocking mysteries and starting to gain the knowledge and experience that allows you to see things that others overlook. Sometimes, only the trained, experienced eye recognises that a small hole or open door likely caused the vessel’s demise.
What You’ll Learn
• Techniques for diving exploring shipwrecks, and how to avoid common hazards
• How to research and learn the background of your favourite wrecks
• Wreck scuba diving equipment considerations
• Considerations and techniques for entering intact wrecks
• Experience in planning, organizing and making at least four wreck dives under the supervision of your DM Scuba Instructor
Your Next Adventure
Many shipwrecks are often found in deeper water. That’s why the PADI Wreck Diver course is a natural companion to the PADI Deep Diver course.
Other training to consider is the PADI Enriched Air Diver course to extend your bottom time or the PADI Boat Diver course on your way to PADI Master Scuba Diver.

Note
Your Adventures in Diving Wreck Adventure Dive may count towards this specialty certification at instructor discretion. Due to the serious nature of this course (overhead environment, entrapment, etc) you may be required to complete all four dives and it is not suited for anyone who may suffer from claustrophobia or just doesn't like small confined spaces. We will be penetrating a wreck!
Wreck penetration training dives are limited to within the light zone and within 40 metres/130 feet from the surface, vertical and horizontal distance included. If you have a preference for the wreck we use for training and it's located in deep water (over 18 metres/60 feet), the Deep Diver rating is recommended as a prerequisite for the Wreck Diver programme.
Location
Normally we head out on a boat from Portland harbour in Dorset diving on a real wreck, we can also complete the course at an inland dive site around Bristol to keep costs down, the training is the same but if you choose the boat option you do get to map, explore and dive on a real sunken wreck!. This is a two day course completing four dives, but if you already hold the Wreck course adventure dive it can be completed in one day.
